A two-hour taster on the potter's wheel — centre the clay, open it up, and pull the walls of a small bowl or cup. Messy, meditative, and more forgiving than it looks.

1. Wedge and centre clay on the wheel

2. Open and pull walls under one-on-one guidance

3. Trim and shape your piece

4. Choose a glaze colour for firing

No experience needed. Wear clothes you don't mind getting clay on, and keep nails short if you can.
