A social ladder format where you switch partners every round, so you get games against a mix of levels and actually meet people instead of sticking with whoever you arrived with.

Format

* Six rounds of rotating doubles, 12 minutes each

* Partners rotate every round, scores carry over

* Small prize for the top three, and for the best newcomer

Levels

Split into two brackets after round one — Social and Competitive — so nobody has a miserable evening.

• Court fees and all equipment

• Paddles available to borrow

• Electrolytes and cut fruit

Beginners genuinely welcome — about a third of each session is people in their first month of playing.
